Send your #UtahGrad21 video to be included in Commencement

Well, it looks like graduation is happening this year, in one form or another, and you know what, congrats on the achievement! You made it happen during a time like no other. So to the Class of 2021, and to the Class of 2020—who is invited to take part in this year’s festivities, including in-person college convocation ceremonies—we salute you!

As part of the tribute, we’d love to include as many messages from you in the virtual Commencement event on May 6 at 7 p.m.

Tell us your favorite, funny or otherwise memorable moments from your time at the U. Or just how it feels to be graduating. And we’ll add it to the virtual Commencement ceremony.

Videos should be no longer than 20 seconds in length and can be submitted below. You can also send them directly to us on Instagram (@universityofutah) or use the hashtag #UtahGrad21. (Note: only posts with Instagram set to public can be viewed.)

#UtahGrad18 Commencement Contest

First place receives:

  • A lifetime membership to the Alumni Association ($640 value), which means a life lavished with U perks and special treatment

Top @UUtah Tweets of 2017

The University of Utah Twitter account saw some major gains in 2017, including 27,005 new followers (a 37 percent increase), 19,520 retweets and 76,990 likes. In all, our Twitter engagement was up 53 percent compared to 2016. Of the 1,947 tweets sent from @UUtah in 2017, here are the top 10:

The University of Utah By The Numbers

The University of Utah began its “#ByTheNumbers” campaign in March 2017. Each animated infographic features a number that highlights the U’s student success or elevates the prestige of the university.

The infographic’s powerful design lies in its focus on one number, which challenges the content team to be succinct. To keep the series coordinated, the designer developed a “By the Numbers” word mark, which can be seen at the top of each graphic. Additionally, the university’s block U logo is at the bottom, branding it as University of Utah content. And the header, logo and large number make it easy to identify the graphics as part of a series, the color palette, font and movement change with each graphic, offering flexibility to the designer and keeping the look fresh.

UCard Design Contest

The UCard needs a fresh look and we’re leaving it to the experts, YOU! Submit your design for a chance to be the new UCard used by thousands of students, faculty and staff. Submit your design using the form below before April 19. An internal panel of judges will select up to 10 designs as finalists, which will then be put out for public voting to determine the winning design. Designs must meet the specifications listed below and incorporate one of three existing UCard logos. The final winner will be announced April 29.

How to Enter:

Complete the form below to submit your design.

Anyone 18 or older can enter.

Submissions are accepted April 4-18.
Each design must be submitted separately. Files with multiple designs will be disqualified.
Internal committee will select top 10 designs.
Public will vote on top 10. The design with the most votes wins.

Winner will be chosen April 29 and contacted by email.

First Place: iPad Pro, 9.7 inch, space gray, 128 GB
Second: $200 Campus Store credit
Third: $100 Campus Store credit

Design Specifications

Designs must be submitted in .eps or .jpeg format
Card dimensions are 2 1/8” X 3 3/8”
Resolution should be 300 dpi
Must leave space for a student photo, student id number and include the words “For Campus Use Only”
Must include one of the two logo files provided below
If using “The University of Utah” you must use files provided
The official University of Utah red is PMS 187
